Grand Hyatt Bali--I Recommend

Smoked Duck of Bali--I Recommend

Hello, “Oh enki des ga?”

I was not that surprised while more than 30 people say “koniziwa” to me. Is this because that too many Japanese shopping here in Bali? We easily see many Japanese while traveling aboard, but why not Chinese. I think that this is the culture difference again. Now in Taiwan, most people still believe that saving money is more important than anything. If you know how to save money, that means you have a good personality.

My father is a businessman, so we have more chance to “spend money” in our life. Asking ladies to clean, calling “delivery dinner” or seeking further study life. I am really lucky to have a not-bad family, so I can enjoy more about my life. However, my mother still teaches us all the time, saving money is so important, especially for a woman. Once you have no husband or children, you will still have money for living. Thanks for my parents to giving me the working ability, I can still support my living. How about my next generation? Maybe they will have different thoughts while they face the same situation.

Shopping or Swimming?

I was really struggling while choosing a pool afternoon or mall afternoon. Then, I am glad to stay in the hotel. Not only because of the beautiful sunshine and the atmosphere by the pool, but also I really want to try different tourism style. Away from the air-conditioner, go to the sun and enjoy the differences from the life that I used to have in Taipei city. I asked myself “is it related to the culture differences again?” Yes, I think so. Eastern people have been taught to search for the goal of different life decays. 30, 40, 50…, but we have no concept about how to live with a personal life.

Therefore, for the short trip of our life, we should get as much as we could. That means that it should include the souvenirs. If we just stay by the pool and swimming, what could we get after the trip? A brown-skin body? Wow, that would be terrible for the woman. Because “one white” can cover ten “ugly” Chinese people used to say.

A bag costs from 180000 to 10000 RP

If you have been to Island Bali, you won’t miss Buda Palace. Between watching the dancing show in Buda Palace, and next destination, most tourists would like to go to the traditional market, including hundreds of Chinese People from the big tour bus.

I wonder if local people have been trained by the tourists, shop-keepers will give you a big range about pricing. This is the experience that I have just gone last week. Last Saturday, I was asking the price of a bag in the market. The young lady tried to make me laugh by speaking her poor Chinese and told me RP 180,000 genteelly. RP 180,000? Almost NT$ 600! The price is like the price in Taiwanese bag shops. So I express that I want to leave. Suddenly, she can’t stop saying “how about 100,000? 80,000? 50,000? 10,000? Or just say a price? To be honest, I was losing my interests at that time, and feel crazy. That bag, not really looks pretty anymore after this situation.

From Cheese to Smile--Bali Trip

What will you do when your eyes contact at a stranger? Some people say that people who have more confidence can easily smile at the strangers. Chinese women have been taught that they are not allowed to watch someone directly. Chinese women always want to express their tender and respects by watching down while talking to people.

Even just a glance at some western women, I can easily feel their confidence and pride. Why can I not? Except the culture differences, is it also related to the pride of the race? Is it the reason that we always say “smile” instead of “cheese” while taking the picture? It is just because that we are not that kind of race that used to smile all the time.
